1957. That was the year Frank McGuire, Lennie Rosenbluth, and the rest of the North Carolina Tar Heels men's basketball roster went undefeated, including a win against Kansas in the title game. That's the game that sparked it all. Carolina won a National Championship and the state got a lot of new of new basketball fans. Dean Smith met McGuire.
