Tate carries Heels to victory

When cut up the field for a 20-yard gain that set the North Carolina record for all-purpose yards in a game, the fans who had stuck with the Tar Heels through rain, lightning and 20 straight McNeese State points stood for a rousing ovation. In the end, the Tar Heels emerged with a 35-27 win over the Cowboys on a soggy Saturday, and Tate finished with the second-most all-purpose yards (397) in ACC history. (Durham Herald-Sun)
