UNC quarterback Drake Maye is a semifinalist for the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award presented to the outstanding freshman player in college football. Maye leads the nation in total offense (388.8), ranks third in passing efficiency (185.5) and third in passing yards per game (339.9). Maye leads the country with 194 points accounted for in 2022.
