Wide receiver Josh Downs came up with three huge catches on a pivotal third-quarter drive to give No. 17 North Carolina the lead. That gave the Tar Heels (8-1, 6-0 ACC) the momentum, and they held on for a 31-28 victory over Virginia (3-6, 1-6) at Scott Stadium on Saturday for their fifth straight win and a step closer to the ACC Coastal Division title.
