UNC built a 17-3 lead midway through the third quarter, but mental miscues and turnovers provided Virginia Tech with enough opportunities in the final 20 minutes to steal a 20-17 victory with T.J. Yates sidelined late with an ankle injury. “It’s very disappointing to lose a game like this,” UNC head coach Butch Davis said. “We played so well for the first 30 minutes of the game, and played so poorly the second 30 minutes.” (Inside Carolina)
