UNC freshman overcomes tumor

Less than 11 months ago, , a 6-foot-5, 260 pound defensive end from Ladson, S.C., underwent emergency brain surgery after a tumor was found to be causing a buildup of fluid in his head. At the time, no one knew if he would survive -- much less go on to start for the Tar Heels. "I'm just blessed," said the soft-spoken athlete, who is preparing for Saturday's game at Miami, "and just happy to get this chance." (Raleigh News & Observer)
