Pete Nance scored 21 points, capped by a dunk with 19 seconds left that put North Carolina in front for good as the Tar Heels pulled out a hard-fought, 72-68 battle with Syracuse on Tuesday. Armando Bacot scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds with four assists for North Carolina (15-6, 7-3 ACC). Love finished with 15 points and five assists.
