Caleb Love had just deemed UNC's 72-68 escape act against Syracuse a clutch demonstration of the Tar Heels’ toughness and character. The timing couldn’t have been more appropriate. There was R.J. Davis, Love’s battered backcourt partner, making his way along the hallways outside the Tar Heels' locker room, an ice bag obscuring the side of his face.
