UNC entered Wednesday with a 10-2 mark in its previous 12 games. The Tar Heels’ only loss in the 2023 calendar year occurred at Virginia, the ACC’s highest-ranked team. Pete Nance said losing to Pitt again — the Panthers swept the regular-season series against UNC — doesn’t have to be viewed as backtracking in the progress the Tar Heels had engineered.
