Former Miami coach Butch Davis building winner at North Carolina

As two of 11 true freshmen to play for North Carolina a year ago, linebackers Quan Sturdivant and Bruce Carter represented the bedrock for new coach Butch Davis' reclamation project: Young, talented, precocious. Clueless, too. But it was fine if general understanding of technique, nuance and anything beyond see-ball, tackle-ballcarrier arrived later, as long as it arrived sometime.
