The Tar Heels toppled sixth-ranked Virginia 71-63 in ACC basketball at the rocking Smith Center, delivering on perhaps a must-have moment for the livelihood of their NCAA Tournament at-large résumé. Previously dogged by prolonged shooting struggles, Pete Nance supplied 22 points and four blocked shots, proving one of his best efforts of the season.
