Tar Heels present special challenge for Irish
Posted Oct 9, 2008
Notre Dame's special teams have improved dramatically this season, but those units can expect to be tested like never before when No. 22 North Carolina hosts the Irish on Saturday in a battle of 4-1 teams. Tar Heels senior Brandon Tate owns the all-time NCAA record for combined kickoff and punt returns. A big-play receiver on offense, he averages 23.5 yards per catch and 15.8 yards on 11 rushing attempts. ''This guy is a problem,'' Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis said.
