1960 Heels hope for the best against Irish
Posted Oct 11, 2008
They're the only UNC team that has beaten Notre Dame. A lot of others came close -- there was the Joe Montana game in 1975 where an unknown quarterback rallied the Fighting Irish past the Tar Heels, and the 1949 game at Yankee Stadium where, with Charlie "Choo Choo" Justice sitting out with an injury, the Irish cruised to a 42-6 win. But in the 17 meetings between the schools, only the 1960 squad has managed to pull it off.
