Former UNC basketball coach Matt Doherty confirmed NBA star point guard Chris Paul's comment that UNC wanted him to walk on to the program. "I loved Chris and his family, but we didn’t have a scholarship. Back then, you could only offer five in one year and eight over two years. Plus, we had Raymond Felton. I think it worked out for Chris and the Heels."
