The Tar Heels' 1977 Final Four victory against UNLV is one of the greatest in UNC Basketball history. North Carolina was severely limited by injuries. Center Tommy LaGarde, likely an All-American, had been out since February with a knee injury. Walter Davis had broken a finger on his shooting hand, and Phil Ford hyper-extended his shooting elbow.
