Angelique Bassard was just going for a walk on Aug. 28. Bassard is a graduate teaching fellow in the English department and her days were usually full of 19th-century African American Literature research, coursework and teaching students. It wasn’t until Bassard heard emergency sirens blaring over the campus speakers that she knew something was wrong. (Daily Tar Heel)
