North Carolina rattled Kentucky early with defense and offensive rebounding last night and survived another game without Tyler Hansbrough and Marcus Ginyard. North Carolina won 77-58 at the Smith Center to stay unbeaten after two games. Deon Thompson led a quick surge with his scoring and work inside on the offensive boards that produced a 25-6 lead inside of nine minutes.
