North Carolina proved up for a fight as the intensity cranked up, and Saturday afternoon turned more confrontational. The No.9 Tar Heels downed NC State 79-70 at the approving Smith Center, behind an inspired second half that wiped out their double-digit deficit and delivered enough offense to subdue the Wolfpack. Harrison Ingram scored 22 points.
