Former UNC baseball standout James Parks enters Gaston Sports HOF as a throwback to a bygone era

In an era where many top youth athletes are specializing in a specific sport, Gastonia's James "Peanut" Parks is a throwback. A three-sport standout in Gastonia and 1977 Hunter Huss high graduate, Parks was a four-year letter winner for UNC Baseball. After being part of UNC's 1978 College World Series team, a legendary coaching career beckoned. (Gaston Gazette)
