Vance Honeycutt goes No. 22 to Orioles, highest Tar Heel picked in five years

Versatile center fielder Vance Honeycutt, who rewrote the record books during his three seasons at North Carolina, became the 24th first-round pick in program history. The Baltimore Orioles picked Honeycutt as the No. 22 overall pick in the first round. Honeycutt broke the Tar Heels' home run records for a career (65) and a season (28 in 2024).
