UNC settles open-meetings complaint tied to trustee discussions of athletics finances


UNC must pay $25,000 and its trustees must commit to follow the state’s open-meeting laws as part of a settlement over the board’s handling of athletics discussions. Wake County lawyer David McKenzie filed a law suit in May accusing trustees of violating open-meetings laws in previous private-session discussions tied to UNC athletics budgets. (Associated Press)
