The sudden breakup of a century-old Pac-12 serves as a reminder that student-athlete welfare is seldom the top priority in big-time college athletics. The pursuit of TV money almost always comes first, even if that means vaporizing rivalries, ushering in an era of bicoastal conferences and placing an unnecessary travel burden on already overextended athletes.
