Former UNC and Colts defensive end Donnell Thompson dies at age 65

Donnell Thompson, a 1981 first-round pick who spent his entire 11-year NFL career with the Colts, died Sept. 17 at age 65. Thompson was selected by the Baltimore Colts with the 18th overall pick in the 1981 NFL Draft. He was born in Lumberton, N.C. and went to college at UNC, where he played alongside future Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor.
