A strange, but successful, season for Davis, Heels

Before the season, the Heels were beset with questions about their running game and were counting on many young players on defense. The Tar Heels had to dig down to the third string before they found converted defensive back Shaun Draughn to stabilize their ground attack, while sophomores Marvin Austin, Bruce Carter, Quan Sturdivant, Deunta Williams and Kendric Burney and freshman Robert Quinn helped make Carolina's defense one of the most opportunistic in the ACC.
