Hakeem Nicks, who will more than likely turn pro and bypass his senior year, gave what might have been the finest performance of any receiver in UNC history. He caught eight passes for 217 yards and three touchdowns. He is now the single-season and career leader in touchdown catches; he owns the bowl record for touchdown catches and yards in a game. Now the returning players will move forward to continue the reconstruction of a program that has been happening for two years.
