High-caliber university presidents and athletic directors tend to make decisions based on the proverbial "bigger picture." Unlike the most extreme fans, they also value evidence, reason, context, and perspective over emotion, simplicity, and immediacy. This doesn’t mean Hubert Davis’ critics are wrong. They have plenty of well-supported points on their side.
