Luka Bogavac is the first true foreign UNC basketball player this century. Dean Smith often signed international players because they would be better teammates than basketball players. Smith did it for the diversity of his squad and what they could learn from each other. Randy Wiel from Curacao was the first foreign-born player Smith signed. (Chapelboro.com)
