Great Bridge's Carvin Powell heading to ODU

Three-star wide receiver/safety Carvin Powell of Great Bridge High School in Chesapeake, Virginia chose to stay close to home yesterday, choosing in-state school Old Dominion to play football. Scout.com and Rivals.com both list Carvin as a three-star prospect, while ESPN has him rated at 75 out of a possible 100.

There are conflicting reports as to whether UNC even offered Powell a scholarship. The Scout database says an offer was made, while the Rivals database says no offer was ever tendered. Powell's older brother, Carlton played at Virginia Tech and was drafted by the Denver broncos last spring according to the Virginian Pilot.
