Phil Ford was honored with one of North Carolina’s most prestigious awards when inducted into the Order of the Long Leaf Pine for his contributions as far more than a star for UNC. After a pro career, he returned to Chapel Hill as an assistant coach for Dean Smith and Bill Guthridge and went on to raise money for UNC Hospitals and other worthy causes.
