AJ Beatty, former UNC football player, dies at 23

A.J. Beatty’s name should ring a bell for high school football fans because not long ago he was a star at Pittsburgh Central Catholic and one of the state’s top football recruits. The 6-foot-4, 260-pound defensive lineman graduated from Central Catholic in 2020 and signed with North Carolina. Beatty died on July 14 in Pittsburgh. He was 23.
