Michael Carter expected to start for Cardinals after two running backs go on IR

Michael Carter could go from practice squad one week, to getting one carry the next week, to starting this week. That wild turn of events was set into motion because the Arizona Cardinals first placed running back James Conner on injured reserve Sept. 23 with a foot injury, then placed Trey Benson on injured reserve on Monday with a knee injury.
