Randy Wiel was more than a coach to many of the athletes he mentored while he was the men's basketball coach at Middle Tennessee State from 1996-2002. "He was like a father figure to me," said former Blue Raider Malachi Allen. Wiel coached MTSU from 1996-2002 after both playing and coaching at North Carolina under legendary coach Dean Smith.
