Top Stories of 2025: Changes at the UNC Athletic Department

On July 1, UNC Athletics Directory Bubba Cunningham announced he will be transitioning to a new role with the university in the summer of 2026, one which will see him work closely with UNC Chancellor Lee Roberts. At the same time, the school announced the hiring of Steve Newmark to essentially serve as Cunningham’s athletic director-in-waiting. (Chapelboro.com)
