90-year-old Triad neurosurgeon ‘finally’ earns UNC undergraduate degree


Dr. David L. Kelly Jr. says this moment is a dream come true. “I’m finally getting my undergraduate degree because I lacked one course by 3 hours,” said Dr. Kelly. Kelly says, despite being one class shy of earning a UNC undergraduate degree in Chemistry in Spring of 1955, he was still accepted into the accelerated program at UNC’s School of Medicine.
