North Carolina had California quickly backing toward the ropes with seemingly nowhere to go late in Saturday's game at Haas Pavilion. Down by 20 points 10 game minutes earlier, the Tar Heels charged hard on the defensive end with enough offense, positioning themselves to steal a game in which they allowed 54 points in the first half and did little right.
