Dexter Strickland, St. Patrick's fall to Oak Hill
Posted Feb 18, 2009
The showdown between St. Patrick, No. 1 in The Star-Ledger Top 20, and unbeaten Oak Hill Academy of Virginia was billed as the featured match-up of the PrimeTime Shootout and the game certainly did not disappoint.
There were 19 lead changes in the contest, 10 in the first quarter alone, but none in the fourth quarter as Oak Hill pulled away down the stretch for a 73-64 victory at the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton.
On a night when St. Patrick's vaunted backcourt of Dexter Strickland and Kyrie Irving was held to nine points apiece, sophomore Michael Gilchrist stepped up with a monster effort for the Elizabeth school, amassing 28 points and 12 rebounds.
