Tar Heels spurt past rival Wolfpack

The first wave wobbled N.C. State. The second one packed enough punch to put away the resilient Wolfpack. North Carolina loaded up and unleashed a series of spurts that created sufficient separation and ultimately an 89-80 victory against rival N.C. State on Wednesday night in ACC basketball at the Smith Center. "We were just attacking more," guard Wayne Ellington said of the third-ranked Tar Heels' surging second half.
