Wear twins, Mater Dei overpower Upland
Posted Feb 21, 2009
Any doubts that Upland might have had about the legitimacy of the Santa Ana Mater Dei boys basketball team, ranked No. 1 in the nation according to USA Today, disappeared pretty early in Friday's CIF-SS Division I-AA second-round playoff matchup.
The Monarchs, boasting five Division I recruits, had their way with a smaller, younger Upland team, busting out to a 22-point halftime lead en route to an 85-52 victory. David Wear had 23 points, while Travis Wear contributed 15 points and 14 rebounds.
