Shortstop Jake Schaffner and center fielder Owen Hull each had three hits as No. 15 UNC Baseball used two big defensive plays and a late offensive surge to beat California 8-1 Friday in Berkeley, Calif. (Highlights). The Tar Heels scored all eight of their runs from the fifth inning on to hand the Bears, 37th nationally in the RPI, their second straight loss.
