What you need to know about the college basketball transfer portal in 2026

Although college basketball players around the country are already declaring their intention to enter the transfer portal this spring, the portal has yet to open. Due to NCAA rule changes, the portal won’t open until Tuesday after the national championship game, which falls April 7. The portal opens later this year and the window has also been shortened.
