North Carolina intends to hire former longtime NBA coach Michael Malone as the school's next basketball coach, sources told Pete Thamel. Malone previously spent 10 seasons as head coach of the Nuggets and led Denver to the only NBA championship in franchise history in 2023. He was fired last April and joined ESPN as an analyst just over a month later.
