Michael Malone sat in the stands at the Smith Center with a notebook, just another visitor watching Carolina's basketball practice. Minutes later, then-head coach Hubert Davis yelled for him to come down to the floor. Months later, Malone is no longer a visitor. He's family. Malone never played or coached at UNC.
