Leslie McDonald, Briarcrest fall in playoffs

Father Ryan’s defense put up a wall Friday, and defending champion Briarcrest couldn’t scale it. Ryan held the Saints to 27.3 percent shooting and advanced to the Division II-AA boys basketball championship game with a 41-37 semifinal victory at Lipscomb’s Allen Arena. North Carolina signee scored a game-high 21 points for Briarcrest (21-12), but made only 6 of 20 attempts from the field. His teammates made six field goals combined. (Nashville Tennessean)
