Tar Heels survive Hokies' rally
Posted Mar 5, 2009
UNC was trying to solidify a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Virginia Tech was trying to play its way in. Advantage Tar Heels, thanks to a 86-78 victory at Cassell Coliseum. Second-ranked UNC survived a second-half surge by the Hokies to stay atop the conference standings, meaning a victory in Sunday’s regular season finale against Duke will give them the top seed in next week’s ACC Tournament – and likely a top seed in the NCAAs.
