Four Diamond Heels Selected On First Day Of 2026 MLB Draft

Shortstop Jake Schaffner became UNC Baseball's 27th first-round pick, highlighting the first day of the 2026 MLB Draft as four Tar Heels were selected. Schaffner, who was taken with the 20th overall pick by the Boston Red Sox, becomes the highest-selected UNC player since J.B. Bukauskas went 15th in 2017. The Heels now claim 27 first-round picks.
