The basketball seemed to hang in the air for an extraordinary amount of time; long enough for the assembled crowd to be acutely aware of the audible silence their collective gasp had created. Tyler Hansbrough lingered at the top of the key for that moment of quietness, right arm fully extended as his eyes followed the trajectory of the 3-point shot that he'd launched midway through the first half of his Tar Heels' game against rival Duke.
