Twin Valley had time and tempo on it side, and the lead for nearly three quarters. Eastern Montgomery changed all that in less than three minutes.
Shawn Christian scored 21 points in the second half, including eight in less than two minutes, to lead the Mustangs past the Panthers, 67-63, in the VHSL Group A, Division 1 semifinals Thursday at VCU’s Siegel Center.
Hunter Simpson scored 26 points and Josh Smith added 19 points and 13 rebounds for Twin Valley, which never trailed until Christian’s three-point play gave Eastern Montgomery (23-5) a 49-48 lead with 10 seconds remaining in the third period.
