KU fans need to let go of animosity toward Williams
Posted Apr 3, 2008
In 15 seasons at Kansas, he only won 418 games. He merely led the Jayhawks to nine conference titles, four Final Fours and two national title game appearances. Just once, in 1988-89, his first season as head coach, did he fail to win 20 games — coming just one short at 19 — and he never won fewer than 23 again. Nevertheless, Roy Williams is still perceived as the enemy to some KU fans, a minority of crimson-and-blue supporters who can't summon the resources to forgive their ex-coach for bailing on Lawrence in 2003 for North Carolina, his alma mater and his home.
