North Carolina Freshman Takes on a Key Supporting Role

In the video, Ed Davis stands at the far end of the court, a tall and lanky forward, a beanstalk sprouting from a pair of basketball shoes. He sprints toward a chair occupied by a shorter teammate, legs churning, then leaping, then landing as he flushes home a dunk with his left hand. Davis filmed the video a few years ago, and it followed him to North Carolina in the form of more than 50,000 YouTube hits. The video was all improvisation, another glimpse of the potential that marked Davis’s arrival in Chapel Hill.
