Nicks, Quinn Taken On First Day Of 2009 NFL Draft

UNC wide receiver Hakeem Nicks was selected in the first round (29th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft by the New York Giants. Tight end teammate Richard Quinn was the final pick of the second round, going to the Denver Broncos as the 64th overall selection. Nicks is the 18th first-round draft pick in UNC history and the second in as many years. Last season, defensive tackle Kentwan Balmer was taken in the first round (29th overall) by the San Francisco 49ers.
